Q: What is the purpose of Balm and Blade Publishing?

A: Balm and Blade Publishing seeks to be a community of artists and writers known for their highly creative compositions. We believe that the arts are a powerful avenue for exploring and expressing the mysteries and truths of life.

Our desire is to deal honestly with both the ordinary and extraordinary aspects of life. Through this process we hope to help each other become better human beings, whether that is by challenging each other to grow or by offering healing to those who are hurting.


Q: What does "Balm and Blade" mean?

A: Basically, "Balm and Blade" represents both the idea of a healer (balm) and a warrior (blade).

As a publishing company, we seek to 1) offer healing and help to each other, as well as 2) challenge and fight for each other.

In ancient times, a wise king named Solomon wrote that "The wounds of a friend can be trusted." We hope to be this kind of friend - the one who can both cut you to the core and heal the incurable.


Q: What about the logo?

A: Of course, the sword is associated with the warrior. The butterfly represents the idea of healing since it is, in our opinion, such a powerful symbol of transformation and new life.
